AUTUMN/WINTER 2016-17 READY-TO-WEAR HIGHLIGHTS

One of the biggest events in fashion has just finished! A/W 2016-17 Fashion Week! Big Brands like Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Valentino & Christian Dior see celebrities like Anna Wintour editor-in-chief of US Vogue, Rihanna, Zendaya, Kate Moss, Alexa Chung and many more flock to their shows just see what the next trends will be. We will be looking at the upcoming trends circulating London, New York, Milan, and Paris Fashion Week.

What do Balmain, YEEZY by Kanye West, and Gayeon Lee all have in common? Nude, Pale and Pastel colours! The new “black” has taken the fashion world by storm. This is nothing new for the Balmain brand by Oliver Rousteing. He has marked himself a place in the fashion world with his military and Regal inspired clothing accompanied with neutral colours of pink, browns, and greens. There was also a plethora of nude/pastal colours throughout YEEZY’s Season 3 show. Gayeon Lees’ collection was assorted with pretty powered pastels.

This phenomenon hasn’t just stayed on the catwalk. Celebrities have adopted this look, with the likes of the Kardashian/Jenner clan spearheading this trend making its way into the high street stores and on the backs of the general public. This is unsurprising considering just how influential and connected the Kardashians/Jenners are to the fashion industry. Kim Kardashian West, wife to Kanye West has supported and adopted his brand of nude looks. She is also a close friend to Oliver Rousteing and is often seen sporting his gratifying clothing, even wearing custom-designed Balmain clothing to Kanye’s recent YEEZY Season 3 showcase/Album listening party.

Speaking of Balmain, Oliver Rusteing recently enlisted the likes of Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and Jordan Dunn to walk his 2016 A/W collection, with Kendall opening and closing the show. Balmain, currently one of the biggest fashion houses thanks to the backing of celebrity faces like Rihanna, Naomi Campbell and the Kardashian/Jenner clan just debuted its latest 2016/17 collection during Paris fashion week. Of course Olivier Rousteing enlisted the help of good friend and new supermodel Kendall Jenner to lead the runway show. It seems  clear this look is in no hurry to die out anytime soon.

More darker tones also dominated the runway this season as Dior, Fenty by Puma (Rihanna’s debut collection), and Julian MacDonald to name some but a few all leading in that direction. Despite these collections being different in style; with Dior being high fashion and Rihanna being Sportswear, they all appear to have taken a Gothic undertone with plenty of fur accents to count.

With Rihanna being the most marketable celebrity at the moment and Dior being the highest of fashion houses, their ready-to-wear clothing will stand out from the nude trend we are experiencing at the moment. Rihanna’s graphic print fur jacket is sure to fly off the handle come September!
